From Budapest to Vienna and/or back

It takes under 3 hours to go from the center of Budapest to the center of Vienna by train. A one-way ticket costs around 38 EUR, but there are frequently reduced offers at half of this price if booked sufficiently in advance.
 Here is a schedule for the regular trains between Budapest (Keleti pu) and Vienna (Westbahnhof).

Public transport in Vienna

A single ticket costs 1.50 EUR if pre-paid. There are also 24-hour and 72-hour tickets for 5 EUR and 12 EUR, respectively, valid for all of Vienna proper. Tickets can be purchased from machines at most of the stops, or at the train stations and at Karlsplatz.
