Our Debian-GNU/Linux servers
All our servers now support SECURE SHELL which makes it possible to connect to them in a way that protects
against spoofing (somebody only pretending to be the machine you
think you are connected to), sniffing (somebody listening in to your
session and e.g. the passwords you type during it), and hi-jacking
(somebody taking over your session while you think the net is once again down).
tph15:
Backups
are made regularly onto the tph18. If you have an account
on the tph18 as well, you may retrieve lost files yourself in
the following directories (otherwise ask Max or Toni for help):
- /backup/tph15backup/home:
-
contains a full backup of your home directory
made on the start of the current week
- /backup/tph15backup_old/home
-
contains a full backup of your home
directory made on the start of last week
- /backup/tph15backupincr/home:
-
contains an incremental backup of your
home directory made last night
- /backup/tph15backupincr-1..4/home:
-
contains previous incremental backups
hep.itp=tph16:

It includes a Debian mirror offering:
- A fairly up-to-date mirror of the
Debian distribution accessible by ftp or, for local users,
by nfs (mount -t nfs hep:/home/ftp/pub ...) [if there is
a file "Archive_Maintenance_In_Progress" refrain from downloads!]
- A mirror of documentation on Debian:
tohu.itp:
Our MAPLE and

tph19:
This server handles a colour-deskjet printer, a scanner, and
a CD-ROM writer.
